Maki Ashe Pendergast

Unmasking oppression. Conjuring new worlds.

Maki Ashe Pendergast (she/they) is a writer, theorist, and mystic of the margins whose work explores the intersections of spirituality, queerness, and liberation. She serves as the Executive Director of the Center for Prophetic Imagination. Ashe is the author of several books, including That Holy Anarchist: Reflections on Christianity & Anarchism, The Inaction Planner: Delighting in Doing Nothing, A Wolf at the Gate, and unKingdom: Repenting of Christianity in America. Her current projects include When Breath Finds Bone, a hybrid of memoir and philosophy reimagining spirituality as a site of resistance and transformation, and Shimmertwig, a queer, mythic fantasy set in the ruins of a lost empire, where a tender-hearted squirrel must decide whether to resurrect the past or break the cycles of power that shaped her world.
